“Carry on Only with the Sweetest Souvenir” is a 14′ height and 14′ width inflatable installation work. It depicts women’s hesitation about sex, lust, and affection through the struggle process of a lovelorn girl by manipulating fantastic elements and visual symbols as the story background. The emblem of the blow-up doll—the inflatables—contains two levels: the first is to address sexual needs. It is a practical orientation that can be “pure sex without affection.” The second level is the changing status of the symbol. The inflatable/depressed state delivers a solid visual image to the viewers; it can imply a person’s mental state through the complete health/depressed appurtenance, which is the “pure affections without sex.” I want to focus on the sexual desires and lust that a woman may face growing up.
