Even though natural sounds are beautiful all on their own, I am nonetheless interested in describing and attempting to recreate them. My sounds will of course be artificial.Describing a particular environment is a recent musical motivation. It began with the personal goal of taking my current surroundings to a place where I can experience something without time or other specific conditions. This work focuses on the sound of water droplets falling, especially the detailed process the droplets falling into a stagnant puddle. This sound involves countless repeated physical stimuli that are difficult to measure. I image that the droplets are falling in a cave. It takes thousands of years for a cave to form. Therefore, such sounds contain tremendous beauty, but if we don’t listen, they are easy to miss. The piece is meant to be an opportunity to fully appreciate and savor the details of this natural phenomenon.
